Meet your new committee

Today the Southport Gymnastics Club held its annual AGM and we are happy to announce our new committee for 2022-23.

We would like to reassure you of our joint commitment to the club and to all our members. As our first task as a new committee we will be updating our Club’s Strategic Plan for 2023 and we would like your input.

If you could please spare 5 minutes to give us your thoughts, we would very much appreciate it.

We would also like to acknowledge the incredible hard work of our outgoing committee members- Vinnie, Sean and Nadia - who have spent countless years and hours getting the club to where it is today. Your hard work is very much appreciated.

We had tremendous success at our recent Bunnings BBQ fundraiser, raising $1700 for the club to go towards our goal of purchasing a new set of bars for the club. We’ll be asking for our support shortly for an end of year raffle also.

Vice-President - Skye Harrison

Hi, I'm Skye Harrison. I have been a current committee member for the last year at SGC. Being involved with events and fundraising for the club and would love to continue to help build SGC. I have 3 kids, one of them being Zahli an obsessed little gymnast. I believe in the values of SGC and it being the perfect place for Zahli in her gymnastics life, and this is my reason for wanting to keep on building Southport into the best gym it can be. I have previous club experience in other sporting fields and believe I have a lot of knowledge from this to offer the club. I am also one of the first to always put my hand up to help because I want my kids to see it takes a community to build a club.

Treasurer - Sara Williams

Hi, my name is Sara Williams. I am a current member of the SGC committee and the mother of two eager gymnasts, Alana and Elise, who are part of SGC’s competitive gymnastics program.

We joined the SGC family in 2020, and quickly experienced the strong sense of community that exists amongst the club’s members. It was for this reason that I chose to join the committee in 2021 and see how I could give back. Since then, as a committee member, I have been involved in events and fundraising activities for the club, along with assisting the current President and Treasurer with the management of the grants application process, lease management, insurances, and asset management planning.

Professionally, I have over 20 years experience in the IT industry and nearly 15 years management experience. In my current role as Director of Enterprise Platforms and Delivery for Foxtel, I manage a team of approximately 100 IT professionals and an annual group budget of around $8M covering our outsourced workforce. I am experienced in budget planning/management, contract management, financial reporting and reconciliation. I have a high attention to detail along with strong planning and organisational skills. I believe I have the core skills and the passion to be a successful Treasurer and ensure we continue to grow and prosper as a club!

General Committee Member - Stacey Reid

My name is Stacey Reid, I am the mother of Anika Reid who is in Emma's level 6 group.

For the past 4 years I have been accounts payable at Coast 2 Coast Earthmoving.

Previously Ross and I had a mechanical business in Brisbane which I managed the administration side of for over 10 years until we decided we needed a better lifestyle and moved back to the Gold Coast for Anikas health.

My loves in life are my family, animals, wakeboarding and of course gymnastics.

My management, communication and administrative skills are excellent. I always bring dedication, passion and support to whatever project I am doing. Southport Gymnastics Club is our second home (or as my husband would put it 1st home) and I want to help keep building the club with support to the coaches, members and committee anyway I can. Having passionate committee members like myself will ensure the club will thrive.

General Committee Member - Lauren Brown

My name is Lauren, and I have two children Alexis (level 4) and Archie (Gym Tots), and have been members of the club for just over 18 months now. As a gymnast myself when I was younger, I know the importance of community within a club, and the valuable support a club provides to our young Athletes, not just in training, but in their everyday life. Although currently working in the Public Service, my employment background is within Event Management industry across a wide variety of settings including action sports, community, luxury hotels and the private sector.

I’ve lived on the gold coast for the past 12 years and enjoy the lifestyle that comes with living in this part of the world. My other interests include Pilates, Photography and Music – and as a fun fact I even performed in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony Band.

As a family we enjoy getting out and exploring the coast as well as sailing our beautiful waterways. We have enjoyed our Southport Gymnastics Journey so far, and look forward to becoming more involved and bringing some fresh ideas to the floor!
