Term 3 Newsletter

Congratulations on another successful term at Southport Gymnastics Club. We’ve had much to celebrate this term and many exciting events and initiatives coming up for Term 4. The biggest and most exciting news however, we have to share first…

New equipment

We are so excited to announce that we have placed an order for approximately $200,000 worth of new equipment, which if all goes to plan with shipping we hope to have installed over the Christmas shutdown period. The equipment we have coming is:

  • Spieth FIG-certified Elastic Swing Floor (Moscow)

  • Spieth FIG-certified Vaulting Table (Ergojet Rio)

  • Spieth Safety Padding for base of Vaulting Table

  • Spieth Vault Run Up and Jumping Device

  • Spieth Landing Mat

  • Spieth Club High Bar

  • Spieth Club Beam

  • Spieth Tumbling Track 6m

  • Spieth Multi-Mats

  • New matting around the bar area

We are also very close to ordering a set of FIG Uneven bars as per our ongoing fundraising efforts and will continue to raise money for this during Term 4.

We are so excited to be able to provide this much needed equipment upgrade for the Club as we work together in building Southport Gymnastics Club to be a leading club on the Gold Coast for Competitive and Recreational Gymnasts.

 New classes and initiatives

We are excited to announce we’re adding new classes to our recreational schedule. These include:

  • New Saturday recreational classes for 4-7 year old’s from 7.30am to 8.30am. We will open more classes as demand grows.

  • New former gymnast class on a Tuesday from 6.30pm – 8pm, aimed at 16+ gymnasts who may have retired over the last few years but would still like to keep up their fitness and conditioning in a gymnastics environment.

  • New adult classes on a Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8pm – no previous experience necessary. Parents this one is for you!

  • Recreational Open Day – Saturday 8 October 1pm to 2.30pm

  • Competitive Open Day – Saturday 22 October 1pm – 2.30pm

If you know any friends or family interested in any of the above, please refer them to our website or directly to Sharon. We would appreciate you sharing any social media posts over the coming weeks as we try to market our new Term 4 classes and open days.

 Mental Health Workshop

Thank you to everyone who attended our Healthy Mindset Workshop on the weekend. This workshop highlighted some great techniques our girls can implement themselves to help better balance their academic and co-curricular demands as aspiring athletes.

We are now also one of the only Club’s on the Gold Coast to have a full qualified Mental Health First Aid staff member. Our Club Manager has recently completed her Mental Health First Aid accreditation and this will be a great asset for our Club and members going forward.
